Stewart's Profile I have always been a "science nut". Ever since I can remember I have had a thirst for more and more knowledge. This is particularly so in the case of human biology. I remember at high school, my teacher organised evening classes for me at a local college because I had exhausted the normal biology syllabus early. I studied an anatomy & physiology course designed for nurses. I was the only male among around 20 students. Needless to say, I never missed a class - and I got an "A"! After leaving school, I enrolled at Salford University in the UK to study dentistry but life as it is, full of twists & turns, I ended up extending my summer job in textiles to cover most of my working life. Emigration In 1987 I moved from the UK to Australia in search of fame and fortune - well a better lifestyle at least and ended up moving around Victoria following my career.
I had my first treatment a week or so later and I must admit that I walked out feeling that I had wasted yet more money on my non-responding problem. A couple of days later when I was moving freely for the first time in a couple of years I knew that I was on to something good. After just two treatments, I was a convert and I just had to learn it. I started my training in 1999 and haven't stopped learning or being amazed at how this gentle therapy can seemingly perform miracles. To be or not to be? Up until recently I had only used this skill on family & friends and a few paying clients as I was caught in a chicken and egg situation. My day job didn't allow me to build up a client base that could support us and without a client base, I didn't feel able to give up my job.Last year I took the plunge and gave up my role as a textile chemist and salesperson to concentrate on this Bowen Therapy business. I feel confident that as I give the same pain relief to others as was given to me then, this will be a truly successful venture. |
A few years ago whilst living on a small property in North East Victoria, I developed a "bad back" that just wouldn't go away despite the best efforts of a small army of different therapists. After returning to Melbourne, I visited the Mind, Body and Spirit festival and learned about Bowen Therapy.
