How did it all begin?

Tom BowenBowen Therapy was developed by Thomas Bowen in the 1950's and was refined as a technique up to his death in 1982.

Tom Bowen lived and worked in Geelong and learned his skills by watching and learning from the masseurs & physios that treated the Geelong football team.

He noticed that certain moves made on players had specific effects. He took this information away and developed his technique.

It was only in the early 70's that he invited a few select people to train in his technique. One of these, Oswald Rentsch, went on to form the Bowen Therapy Academy in 1987. This academy is dedicated to teaching Bowen Therapy in it's original form.

The academy has grown and now boasts 75 instructors who have taught over 15,000 therapists in 25 countries.
